France–Sweden Trade Relations
Decline in Goods Trade in 2024 Amid Weakened Economic Context, Offset by Strong Growth in Services
Between 2015 and 2024, trade relations between France and Sweden have seen sustained growth, with goods trade increasing by 55% and services trade by 135%. In 2024, the total volume of bilateral trade amounted to approximately €23 billion, including €13.5 billion in goods and €9.5 billion in services (according to Swedish sources).
In a weakened macroeconomic environment, goods trade declined significantly in 2024, falling by 9.2% compared to the previous year. In contrast, services trade maintained strong momentum, growing by 10.5% year-on-year, and further strengthening its role in bilateral economic relations.
France's trade balance in goods remains in deficit, at -€1.5 billion in 2024. French exports of goods to Sweden amounted to €6 billion, while imports of Swedish goods reached €7.5 billion. However, this deficit represents a slight improvement compared to 2023.
As for services, the growth trend that began in 2020 continued in both imports and exports. In 2024, total services trade reached €9.5 billion. French exports of services to Sweden stood at €4.3 billion, mainly concentrated in business services (B2B), transport, tourism, and digital sectors.
